Shandong University Library has been committed to the improvement of readers' information literacy. For this purpose:

The library runs a number of literature retrieval courses for undergraduate students, such as Information Retrieval-Science, Information Retrieval-Engineering, Information Retrieval-Social Science, Information Retrieval-Arts, Medical Literature Search, Literature Retrieval, Economic Information, Information Analysis and Forecast; graduate students are offered relevant courses like Literature Acquisition and Utilization and Literature Retrieval, etc. These courses may be general elective, distributional elective and mandatory courses, etc.

For all faculty and students, training lectures are given in spring and autumn respectively，namely "Spring Classroom" and"Autumn Auditorium". These lectures are centered on the application of literature information databases, literature information retrieval tools and literature information management and statistical tools purchased by Shandong University, contributing to students' academic study and scientific research, thus becoming popular among the faculty and students. The types of lectures vary according to different audiences, mainly including regular lectures (for the faculty and students), booking lectures (only for those who have made a booking and offered when there are over 15 bookings) and embedded lectures (projects, courses, and topics), etc.
